A few weeks ago I ventured up the river with a mate of mine who has never thrown a lure in the River Murray, we launched at his private boat ramp and headed upstream towards Bow hill in search of some cliffs and it wasn’t long and we found some nice deep water to thro
w some lures around. On board I was armed with some new Samurai Inflict spin rods, 7′ Fast 3-8lb and 7′ Fast 8-16lb.
The lure of choice was a vibe to allow me to get to the fish holding deep and the Megabass Vib-X Power Bomb Rattle caught my eye as I opened the tackle box. To mix it up, we tied on a diving minnow to the other rod. The 3-8lb Inflict matched the vibe well and allowed the lure to work with maximum action in the water, while the heavier Inflict combined with deep diver transmitted its action through to the rod effectively.
It wasn’t long before the diving minnow came up trumps and my mate hooked his first fish. For me my job was done, seeing a mate catch his first freshwater on lure is just as satisfying as landing a fish yourself. The rod performed as I thought it would, a nice fast action, plenty of feel but still had the power down low to turn the fish from heading back into its snaggy home. Next time you are down at your local store pick up a Samurai Inflict and have a look at these affordable and beautifully crafted rods, you wont be disappointed.
