One of the most enjoyable aspects of fishing the Coral Sea was being dropped off on the coral cays to fish the blue holes left behind at low tide. Big GTs are often caught in these deeper patches of water and provide spectacular land based action. Being an avid rock fisherman, I armed myself with a Samurai Pop 10 and had a go at some of these fish.
The Pop 10 is perfect for this fishing as it is light but has enough stopping power for most fish. Unfortunately on this occasion, the difficult terrain proved to be the deciding factor and I got busted off by a decent GT before retying another popper on and then running out of time before we were off to another location.
